Get Active

In order to meet the criteria for this theme, schools must ensure that pupils are provided with a range of opportunities to be physically active, that they understand how physical activity can help them to be healthier, and how physical activity can improve and be a part of their daily lives.

There are lots of opportunities for families and schools to take part in activities that are both healthy and fun in Penwith. Go to the Active Penwith website for information about community sports and activities, PE and school sport in Penwith.

Walking to School

Walking to school can provide many benefits to children, parents and the school:

  • Health benefits through regular exercise - improved fitness
  • Improved awareness of Road Safety and promotion of pedestrian skills
  • Reduction of traffic congestion - especially at the school gates
  • Improved air quality
  • Time and cost savings
  • Good patterns of exercise can be established from an early age and encourages a more active lifestyle.

Walking to school provides children with a great start to the day; they arrive at school wide-awake and more receptive to learning! :)

Anyone interested in walking to school more regularly / setting up a 'Walking Bus', please see Mrs. Ellis.

Bikeability is designed to give our children the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today's busy roads. There are three bikeability levels and children are encouraged and inspired to achieve all three levels, recognising that there is always more to learn and to enjoy riding their bike!
