What a Week!!

The last week before half term was quite busy!
We had a fantastic trip to Trevaskis Farm on Wednesday.  While we managed a lovely walk around the fields, poly tunnels, herb garden, farm and orchard then watching the animals we were so tired that lunch time couldn't come quick enough!  While walking around the farm we found a field full of pumpkins and were amazed at all the different sizes!
The children were beautifully behaved and very polite throughout the trip.  I have attached some photographs of our visit.
The children have got through their first half term of school and I congratulate them.  They have already learned so much, including letters and sounds and the beginnings of blending sounds to read simple CVC words (Consonant, vowel, consonant eg: c-a-t, d-o-g, s-i-t, g-a-p etc).
They are now counting with confidence and making repeating patterns.  This is all done after a daily 5 minute whole class input of number work or letters and sounds, through activities that allow them to learn through play.
Our topic of Food Glorious Food continues after half term, with a trip to Tesco to experience "from farm to fork".  I will be sending a permission slip for you to complete which allows us to take your child on the mini bus.
We will also be making blackberry jam.  I will confirm the date of this so that you can remove your blackberries from your freezer in readiness!  If there are any parents or grandparents who would like to help us make the jam at school please let me know.
I do have a plea:  If you have any jam jars with lids could we please have them for the jam.  We will be selling them at a farmers market in St Erth and again the date will be confirmed.
Many thanks to you all for coming to the parents meetings.  It was lovely to meet you all and discuss how well the children have settled into school life in Perran Class.
All that remains is for me to wish you all a great half term whether you are away or chillaxing at home.
See you on Monday 30th October!
