Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy New Year to you all.  I hope you all had a festive Christmas and there weren't too many bugs at your house!  As you know I was absent for the last 2 days before we broke up with the 'tummy bug'.  I would like to thank you all for your Christmas cards and presents and I have finally finished off the chocolates this weekend.
Although I am introducing our new topic here, I am also including some photos from our fantastic nativity 'I Spy Christmas'.  The children were absolutely brilliant and a true credit to you all.
This term our topic is Dinosaurs and I have also attached the term overview for you.  I am sending this home on Monday for you to keep so you can see what we hope to cover during the term.  I always say if the children ask to find out about anything I will follow their lead and their learning will therefore be relevant to what they want to find out!
The school are targeting boys writing so I am hoping that this topic will encourage the boys to want to write about what they have found out.  We have already started a display board in class ready for the children to add to.  We are using the Harry and the bucketful of Dinosaur books to begin with, but will also be looking at information books and using the internet to research dinosaurs (with your help please).
The authentic outcome to this topic will be an exhibition in the community.  We will be displaying all our work including our research DT, drawings and writing that we have done over the term.  We will be sharing the exhibition with Mrs Sandow's Class and the date and location will be confirmed nearer the time.
As this is a shorter term, as Easter is early this year, we will be 'doing' quite a lot in class.  If there are any parents or Grandparents who would like to come in to help us please let me know, you are more than welcome to come and listen to the children sounding out their flash cards or working with numbers.
Many thanks to you all for your continued support and here's to another great term!
